Made it through the long weekend. Kids were out of school on Friday, but didn't really do anything exciting. Saturday Cody had to work, Peyton was out shopping with her "big sister" and Sam was at a birthday party/sleepover. Jason and I decided to drive to Colorado Springs. We walked around Mardel and Target and came home. Then both of us were on our computers in the same room. So sad. haha
Last Wednesday Jason and I started Slim in 6 workouts. Every evening we've done them and feeling great. Sunday was just a really busy day. Between Church, a class in the afternoon and then Nuggets game, we didn't get home until 10 something. So we didn't get the work out in. But instead, we took the MANY stairs at the Pepsi Center instead of the escalator. Whew!
This weeks agenda:
Clean house really well and get laundry caught up. (I hear the washer running....I'm off to a good start)
Then to organize my craft room so I can decided what to take to my scrapbooking weekend at a friends'.
Put on a few more coats of Poly on our newly refinished kitchen table. (it looks so purty)
Work on my bible study each morning. If you haven't studied Esther, you really should. I have read Esther in the past...but didn't get a whole lot from it. This time, I'm seeing it in a whole new light. A really exciting story actually.
Workouts~EVERY day!
So off to start my week. Hope your week is amazing!
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

2011~ IS MY YEAR to WIN!
I love being motivated. In all aspects of my life.
1. I want to get my house more organized. I recently went through my closet and got rid of quite a bit. Clothes that neither fit, nor did I want to fit back into. It felt good to say goodbye to clothes that are too big, and say goodbye to that "bigger" person I used to be. I think I will sit down in the next few weeks and make a list of the different rooms I need to de-clutter and start over. (for those of you who started reading my blog at the very beginning, this is why I started blogging in the first place) Now to follow thru.
2. I want to get my body healthier. So far, I feel I'm doing well in this category. Down 41 pounds since August. Went from a tight size 18/20 to a size 12 and am not done! I know, some of you probably cringe at the fact of being a size 12, because you are a lot smaller than that. But for me, this is huge! I haven't been in a size 12 since high school...or maybe even middle school. (just telling you my size is a HUGE step for me and I'm not embarrassed to say it!) I'm pretty proud of me. :)
3. I want to get our finances under complete control. We are working really hard to accomplish this, by saying no to many things, cutting out certain things in our life that aren't wants, etc. We have been dealing with some pretty tough things since last Christmas when Jason was laid off and then taking a pay cut. It put a huge dent in our budget as the snowball kept rolling, and getting larger and larger. Teenagers aren't cheap. Having three kids isn't cheap. Living in Colorado isn't cheap. Driving a truck that drinks lots of gas isn't cheap. But is it all worth it? Absolutely! But it's time to make things better, not worse!~ We're on a path that feels pretty good.
4.I also want to work on ME spiritually. By becoming closer to God, becoming a women who God wants me to be. I've been really trying to focus on that second one, knowing that if I can work on this, the first will follow. I want to become a better wife, better mom, better daughter, better friend, etc. One thing that I've really been thinking about lately is how I can become more positive, which will affect all of my relationships. A pet peeve of mine is negativity. Occasionally we all find ourselves complaining or saying something we shouldn't be saying. I know of some people who talk only negative. Complaining about everything in their life. Talking negative about people, situations, etc. This makes me very sad for them. I find myself praying for them to find joy in their life. Unfortunately, I find myself in this category a lot. I also know people who have never said a bad word about anything or anybody. Think about it. Which do you prefer to be around? Someone who finds joy in everything, which God tells us to do, or someone who is constantly complaining and finding all the faults in people and situations. I don't know about you, but the ones that are full of joy make me feel uplifted and positive about life. When I've been around ones that are negative, I feel drained and depressed after I've been with them. So my goal is to find the JOY in everything. Look on the bright side. To have my glass half full. However you want to say it. I think if I can work on being positive, everything else in my life will work a little smoother. I'm not saying I won't have days that I want to dig a hole and crawl in, but I wish to have more mountaintop experiences in life than being in a pit feeling sorry for myself.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure....Phil. 2:14
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another. Ephisians 4:32
Let 2011 be YOUR year to win also!

Maintenance
I am officially onto a new phase. It's called Maintenance. Still no sugar and no starches, but I can have cheese and peanut butter! I have survived another round of this "diet" and have officially lost 41 pounds. Yeah me! Now to lose another 10-20 pounds just by working out. This time it'll be slow losing, but I'm okay with that.
Jason has been sick since Saturday. Stayed home from work yesterday and it home again today. I'm ready to get out of the house. Thank you God for bible study this morning. Speaking of....I gotta run, just wanted to check in...it's been a few days. ta ta for now!

A New Phase
Well, I am officially moving on to the a new phase of my "diet". Now to bump up the workouts and change my life and how I eat, forever.
We had to run some errands this morning and drove by the Salvation Army store and decided to stop. I was shopping specifically for jeans since I only have 1 pair of jeans that truly fit. As I was sifting thru the racks, I overheard the cashier tell someone that everything in the store was 50% off today. That changed my shopping strategy. I decided to check out the sweater and shirt racks also. I filled the cart and headed to the fitting rooms, expecting only a fraction of the items in my cart to fit, and that I'd like. Well, we spent $28 on a huge garbage bag full of sweaters and jeans, a winter coat and a shirt for both Sam and Jason. That was fun! The best part, everything I got was practically brand new. And smaller sizes than I've bought in a long time.
A little nervous about this next phase. I am allowed to eat a lot more than I have been eating, just no sugar or starches, which is practically everything. No pasta, no cereal, no bread, no cookies, etc. Hello to cheese, yogurt, eggs and milk. YUM. I've missed cheese. This phase will last 3 weeks, and then I am allowed to re-introduce sugars and starches. I can do this! And I'm excited to be in smaller clothes, feeling better, and maybe even looking better.
It's been a good day spent with two of my guys. Now home to relax, do laundry and watch football. Ahhhh, I like Saturdays!

Empty
The house is empty. Well, not exactly, but it feels that way. Our friend, Choly left this morning. We got up at 3am and left the house at 3:30 to take him to the airport. We were very concerned with the fact that he doesn't speak a lot of English and he also doesn't have very good eyes. So the combination of the two plus the fact that he's only flown once before, really concerned us as we walked into the airport. So as we checked him in, we asked for an escort. What a relief it was to know he was going to have a personal escort right to his gate. Another concern was that he did not have a cell phone so couldn't call us if there were issues.
We walked him to the security line, hugged and said good-bye, not knowing when we'll get to see this person we feel is part of our family again. As we walked away, tears welled up in my eyes...and maybe a tear drop fell down my cheek. (for those of you that know me well, I am not a cryer) I am going to miss him!
About 9:30 the phone rang. He made it to Phoenix and was in his girlfriends' car. What a relief to hear his voice and know that he made it safely to Phoenix. I had asked for an escort to meet him in Phoenix at the gate and he said they were right there waiting for him to take him to baggage claim.
The scale was down again this morning. Such a wonderful feeling every morning to watch it go down. Even if it is 5 oz. Some is better than none.
Getting tired of the small variety of foods I am allowed to eat and very ready to be off this phase and move onto more "natural" ways of losing weight. As in, exercising and eating what I want, but in moderation. I have calculated and plan to begin this next phase next Thursday. Only one more week of 500 calories a day. I don't think I'll every eat cooked spinach again!
Today's menu:
Lunch: 100g lean ground beef, unsweetened, natural applesauce, and edamome. This is not on the list of allowed veggies, but I was all out of "allowed veggies" and thought these were better than eating a cookie.
Still not sure what I'll be having for dinner. Maybe a lean steak with grilled onions.
Counting down until next Thursday!

SNOW DAY!
I'm a day behind, but we did have a snow day yesterday. Everyone, including the hubby, stayed home. We stayed in the house and stayed warm. We watched Elf and a few other movies. Snow days are fun, but very glad they only last one day. We were really bored by evening.
Yesterday's menu:
lunch: 100g chicken breast, salsa, lettuce, grapefruit
dinner: 100g lean ground beef patty, grilled, grissini bread stick and 1 cup asparagus, unsweetened applesauce
This morning I started back to do a bible study at church. It was so good to be back. Bible studies are a huge joy to me. It's great to be with other women who are studying the same things as I am, and it also motivates me to get into the bible more and really dig in. This time we are studying the book of Esther. We will be studying what the bible says about Esther, but also just about being a women. Good stuff and ready to dig in! It's tough being a women!
I stepped on the scale this morning. -2.8 pounds! with the ups and downs I am officially down 8 pounds...and a total of 38 since August of 2010! Yeah!
Today's menu:
Lunch: chicken lunch meat wrapped around celery, unsweetened applesauce
Dinner: 100g shrimp, sauteed, cooked spinach, grissini bread stick, 1/2 grapefruit.
What I learned this morning in bible study: Just like in Esther, where there is no reference to God, God does not always SEEM like He is present in my life, but he is still there. God's name may not be in it, but it is on it!
because God has said, "never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5b

Day 12
Why is it that when you are not dieting, you don't even pay attention to the food commercials on television, but when you aren't able to eat hardly anything you want everything on television. So far today, I have decided I want to go to Red Lobster for the Seafood Dinner for two which includes my choice of dessert or appetizer, Burger King for their 2 for 1 deal on their chicken sandwiches and IHOP for their all you can eat pancakes!!!! UGH! I guess that should tell me to just turn the television off.
It started snowing this morning. It continued to snow this afternoon. It is snowing still this evening. We are hoping for a snow day. In fact, Sam prayed at dinner time, and prayed for God to have the snow continue so they could have a snow day. I laughed right in the middle of our prayer. Good thing God has a sense of humor. I told him after that I'm sure God thought that was funny also. Our friend, Choly is enjoying the beauty, but had to go up to his room and put on another layer of clothes and asked me to make coffee. We turned the fireplace on and he asked where the marshmallows were. jajaja....that's Hahaha in Spanish.
Some shocking news! I got on the scale this morning expecting it to yell at me for eating pizza yesterday. It was not only not yelling, but it said, "good job! I'll go down just a little." I was shocked.
Last night, I spent part of the evening going thru my closet. For those of you that know me, you know I like to shop, (mostly clearance racks) so my closet is beyond full. Well, I tried on shirt after shirt, skirt after skirt and pants after pants, most of which ended up in a large heaping pile in the middle of my floor because they were too big. This is a great feeling! But it also means that I don't really have a large wardrobe to choose from now. Jason was going to wear a tie this morning to church and I talked him out of it because I didn't have anything dressy enough to "match". I believe every one of my skirts, dresses and dress pants ended up in that pile that I mentioned earlier. I have one pair of jeans that fit "just right" and a few long sleeve shirts and several sweaters. I do believe this is enough. I do believe this is enough. I do believe this is enough....No, I did not make a mistake in repeating that three times....I was trying to convince myself!!! I have a friend who is an extreme organizer. She would have been proud of me and my large pile last night. :) You know who you are!
Today's menu:
lunch: 100 g of white fish, grilled. (although I didn't weigh it and I believe it was only about 50 grams), 6 radishes and a cinnamon apple.
dinner: Mexican tacos. 100g chicken breast with salsa, lettuce and a tortilla. I am not allowed to eat flour tortillas, but I skipped my bread that I was supposed to eat so I cheated with a flour tortilla. I know, I'm a cheater!
Dear God, please continue to let the snow fall so that we can have a snow day tomorrow! Amen.
